Healing Introduction

Does God Want To Heal?

Jesus clearly demonstrated Father God’s heart when he used prayer and laying on of hands to heal others throughout his ministry

“Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ And immediately the leprosy left him.” Luke 5:13

“And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick.” Luke 5:17

Jesus said if we have faith in Him we will do what he did and that we would do even “greater things” than He – we can ask for ANYTHING in His name and He will do it (anything being in line with what the Father is saying and doing)

“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name and I will do it.” John 14:12-13

Jesus Was Anointed For Healing And So Are We

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” Luke 4:18

Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever – He is the eternal Healer therefore healing and miracles continue TODAY

John writes to his good friend Gaius

“The elder, To my dear friend Gaius, whom I love in the truth. Our friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” 3 John:1-2

Is Healing Prayer Effective?

The Bible Instructs Us To Pray For The Sick Using The Prayer Of Faith

“Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well. The Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” James 5:13-16

Jesus Exhorts Us To Pray For The Sick

“I was sick and you looked after me, …” Matthew 25:36b

“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'” Matthew 25:40

Does God Want To Use You In Healing?

God wouldn’t give us the gift of healing if He didn’t want us to experience/use it!

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-11

Healing/Miracle included under apostolic ministry – we are to eagerly desire these gifts! (NB. Love must come first in all things)

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And in the church God has appointed first of all prophets, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. … But eagerly desire the greater gifts.” 1 Corinthians 13:27, 29

Healing is a blessing and a “birthright” available to all born-again believers today
The bible teaches that signs and wonders will follow the preaching of the gospel message according to Jesus’ word in the gospel of Mark;

“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved, by whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Mark 16:15-16

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Mark 16:17-18

The Cross/blood Of Jesus Grant Us Access To Total Healing

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5-7

Jesus Heals Of Every Disease And Sickness

“Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.” Ps 103:1-6

Divine healing is part of God’s divine plan for redemption and restoration for mankind; God wants us to prosper and be in good health.

Jesus Only Did What He Saw His Father Doing

“The Son can do nothing of himself, but he sees the Father do; for whatever he does, the Son also does in like manner.” John 5:19

Holy Spirit Is The Key To Unlocking Healing Anointing

Develop a relationship with the Person of the Holy Spirit. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is in every born again believer.

“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.” Romans 8:11

We Have To Give Away What We Have Received – Love That Heals All

“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:18

Jesus Was Anointed To Heal Everyone Oppressed By The Devil – We Are Too!

“how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were und the power of the devil, because God was with him.” Acts 10:38

Angelic Ministry In Healing

Psalm 103 states that angels are to obey God’s word

“The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will, praise the Lord for all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the Lord, O my soul.” Psalm 103:19-22

Christ healed the invalid man at the pool of Bethseda. The footnote also shares that from time to time an angel of the Lord would come down and stir up the waters. The first one into the pool after each such disturbance would be cured of whatever disease he had. (John 5:7)

The writer of Hebrews describes angels as ministering spirits

“Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14)

We have to acknowledge that the realm of heaven including angels is involved in healing ministry, while firmly stating that JESUS IS THE HEALER

Are You Hungry For God’s Power?

  • Healing call – according to Mark 16:15-18
  • Healing anointing – according to Isaiah 61 & Luke 4:18 Healing gift – according to 1 Corinthians 13

I encourage you to exercise faith for healings in many situations and to be willing to pay the price (whatever it might cost) to carry the anointing. Jesus is worthy of all our praise.
